A Quiet Kind of Comfort: A Note From Slovenia | Moon and Mare

A Quiet Kind of Comfort: A Note From Slovenia | Moon and Mare

There is something about Slovenia that makes you notice the little things.

The green seems a little greener. Coffee is something you sit down for. Old streets invite you to wander without much of a plan, and even after a full day out, there is something especially nice about coming back inside when the evening air starts to cool.

My father is from Slovenia, so being here carries a certain familiarity for me. But what I love most doesn't require knowing the country well at all. It's simply the rhythm of the days—and how much room there seems to be for the quieter moments between everything else.

The Part of Travel I Always Look Forward To

We spend so much time thinking about what we'll do when we travel.

Where we'll eat. What we'll see. What we'll wear. Which places we don't want to miss.

And then there are the hours no one really plans.

The coffee before everyone is ready. Coming back after walking all day. Taking a long shower and washing off the day. Opening a window while you get ready for bed. Sitting around talking when you probably should have gone to sleep an hour ago.

I think those are some of the best parts.

They're ordinary moments, just somewhere different.

And they're often the moments when I appreciate comfort the most.

Something Soft at the End of the Day

I may be biased because I created a sleepwear brand, but pajamas are no longer an afterthought when I pack.

There is something incredibly satisfying about coming back at the end of a long day, taking off everything you've been wearing out in the world, and changing into something soft.

It's a small transition, but it changes the mood completely.

This trip, the Ember Set feels especially right. The deep wine shade has a warmth to it that suits Slovenia beautifully—the greenery, old stone, wood, and cooler evenings. It feels rich without being overly dressy, which is exactly how I want sleepwear to feel.

Made from our soft TENCEL™ Modal with a touch of stretch, Ember was designed for sleep, of course. But I also wanted it to be something you actually enjoy spending time in.

For the slow coffee before getting dressed. For reading in bed. For opening the door without immediately wondering what you're wearing. For sitting around a little longer because no one is quite ready to call it a night.

The hours around sleep matter, too.

Comfort Can Be Its Own Kind of Luxury

Travel has a funny way of making ordinary things feel different.

Coffee tastes better when there is nowhere you need to rush off to. A quiet morning feels more noticeable. Coming back to a comfortable room after being out all day feels almost luxurious.

But I don't think it's really the hotel, the view, or even Slovenia that creates that feeling.

It's allowing yourself to enjoy the moment you're already in.

That's something I've thought about a lot while building Moon and Mare.

I never wanted beautiful pajamas to be something saved for a special occasion. I wanted them to make the ordinary parts of our days feel a little more considered.

Because most evenings aren't spent somewhere beautiful in Slovenia.

They're spent at home.

There are dishes in the sink. Something still needs to be answered. Tomorrow's list is already forming in your head. Sometimes you're exhausted and the entire evening routine lasts ten minutes.

But even then, there is a moment when the day is finally yours.

Changing into something soft can be a small way of marking it.

A Little Note From Slovenia

If travel reminds me of anything, it's how little it sometimes takes to change the feeling of a day.

A slower coffee.

A walk without a destination.

An open window.

Something comfortable waiting for you at the end of the evening.

Slovenia happens to be the backdrop for those moments right now. Soon enough, I'll be home again, back to regular schedules and familiar routines.

But that's the part I want to bring back with me.

Not necessarily a slower life.

Just a better appreciation for the slower parts of the one I already have.

And maybe a beautiful pair of pajamas to wear through them.

With love from Slovenia,

Moon and Mare
